Simple foods just don’t cut in 2017 anymore.
Here are five unique trends making the rounds across Australia and the globe.
1. Waffle pizza
In Los Angeles, Seoul Waffle Pizza actually offers Korean fusion waffle pizzas.
Just like a traditional pizza, you can order your favourite pizzas in waffle form.
2. Sushi cake
Forget the sweet flavours of typical cakes.
This Portugal version represents a cake made solely of Japanese sushi ingredients, including rice and wasabi!
3. Yelowfin tuna cones
Another play on the sweet dessert is New Orleans French Quarter’s Yellowfin tuna cones.
The concoction consists of tuna, pineapple and coconut served in a tomato infused cone with avocado ice-cream.
4. Rolled ice-cream
This one is a little less wacky but it's ice-cream served up like never before.
Instead of scooping up the creamy favourite, a restaurant in America is dishing it out in little roll servings.
5. Sushi doughnuts
Sushi seems to be a common ingredient in blending unlikely foods together but this one is a doozy.
Sam, a Melbourne blogger has created a unique sushi doughnut! It consists of sushi rice transformed into doughnut mould, topped with common sushi add-ons.
