Fast felt flowers

Once your flowers are completed, either attach a brooch back to the back of each bloom to make wearable poppies or make the buds as well, add ribbons for stems and decorate the front of a plain cushion cover.

Gather your supplies

Felt in red, orange and green; ribbon in green; marker; scissors; craft glue or needle and thread in matching colours; metal brooch back (optional); cushion cover (optional)

Here’s how

Step 1 Using a photocopier, enlarge Fast Felt Flowers Diagrams to 112%. Cut out shapes to use as templates.

Step 2 Using the picture as a guide, trace templates onto wrong side of coloured felts and cut out pieces for flowers and buds as required.

Step 3 Layer pieces together and glue or hand or machine stitch in place. Knot black threads at centre, then trim to make fringing.

Step 4 Stitch onto metal brooch back, if using, or alternatively, using the picture as a guide, attach to front of cushion cover using green ribbon in varying heights as stems.
