Now is a fantastic time to plant herbs, as late summer’s heat turns to the cooler days of autumn. But if you’re short on garden space at your place, plant a herb patch in pots! Make sure you have a bright, sunny spot available – an exposed wall is ideal – and design your potted patch to be beautiful as well as practical. Combine a few pleasantly weathered terracotta pots with others in similar shades. Then, sit them on an old wooden table where they’re in easy reach for harvesting as you need for cooking. For a sweet touch, recycle old kitchen spoons to use as plant labels!
