7 inspired ways to be creative with plants

Got a room that's feeling a little tired or dated? You don't need to to splash out on new furniture or homewares for a fresh new look. Decorating with plants is an easy way to introduce new life to an old space without breaking the bank.

Here are seven creative ways to decorate with plants in your home. Be inspired and try them for yourself!

1. Gorgeous gallery

The magic of spray paint strikes again! Those bowl planters started off as galvanized steel, and now they are pretty in gold, pink, red, and peach! Find out my favorite gold spray paint and where I bought the planters on the blog. Oh and see those pretty cocktail bottles on my bar cart? They are my new favorite cocktails from @otrcocktails. Premixed cocktails with premium liquor that you just have to pour over ice! Because as much as I like to fancy myself a bartender, I am far from it. But with these I can serve all the cocktails with a simple pour! (Not sponsored, just really love the cocktails!).

Create a theatrical gallery wall by incorporating hanging planters into the design. Group with images of foliage for a strong sense of cohesion.

2. Cool corners

You'd think living in Florida I wouldn't have any sunlight problems for my plants... but apartment living has starved too many of my babies 😭 I've tried a few grow lights this year but finally found one that is beautifully minimal AND has the most gorgeous, naturally warm light. My Aspect light from @soltech_solutions is currently keeping monstera #2 growing like crazy 🌱. Go check them out and use code 'curate15' for 15% off! #partnership

Revamp an empty corner in your home with a big statement plant. It can have a transformative effect on a room and literally bring it to life.

3. Colour pop

Who knew shipping tubes could look so cute?! I partnered with @howlifeunfolds to share how to upcycle cardboard shipping tubes into the most colorful wall organizer to display air plants, gems, mini photo frame, and more! Check out my stories or the blog for the full tutorial. The best part is that this organizer can do double duty as either wall decor or a desk organizer! How sweet is that?! #poweredbypaper #ad

Get crafty with postal tubes and create a vibrant display for plants and other decorative pieces. Best for small succulents and air plants.

4. Hack it

Is it a children's tea trolley or is it a pretty plant stand?! I don't make a habit of stealing my children's Christmas presents but still ... looks good, right?! 😁

Rethink children’s furniture with a fun hack. In this example, a child’s trolley has been repurposed as plant stand. Best of all, you can wheel it around your home for a new look.

5. Baby love

Are you ever done decorating. I've been shooting in Ollen's room today and it's got me really thinking about redecorating in here. Apparently, the kitchen, office and living room aren't already too many projects... 🤦‍♀️ realistically it's not going to happen any time soon though. But I can keep planning... and Pinning. Always Pinning!! Includes previously gifted items from @eastcoastnursery and @habitatuk

Don’t forget plants when you’re decorating children’s rooms. A plant not only adds interest to a nursery, it also helps to clean the air.

6. Jungle style

Remember this view? 🤔 Me neither. Ever since we had a child on the move everything we own has been getting higher and higher 🙈 In fact the whole living room has had to cater to his boundless energy. But when you move all your furniture, everything else needs to move too! 😩Artwork, shelving, entertainment. I thought this room was almost finished but now we're pretty much back to square one! Oh well 🤷‍♀️ we'll finish one room in this house soon, maybe... 🤞🤞 (Sideboard and standing planter previously gifted by @westelmuk)

Create a jungle-inspired vignette on a sideboard or console table for a dramatic style statement. Group different plants in a variety of pots and planters for an eclectic look.

7. Basket case

My absolutely longest succulent at home, this Fishbone Cactus now repotted in a new pot & basket. Hope you're having a lovely Wednesday! 💚🌵

Rethink that seagrass basket you have hanging around at home. Hang it by a handle from a hook for an instant vertical garden.
