7 craft shopping destinations

Thanks to social media and people's propensity for posting selfies at every opportunity, the world is now our oyster which can be explored from the comfort of our own homes. Social media is also a great way for small businesses to share what makes them special with the world. We've pulled together a list of 7 swoon-worthy craft shops from around the world that are worth a look either online or in person.

1 Purl Soho, New York USA

The cutest little shop packed with everything you want - but don’t need! The clever displays and free projects are worth an online sticky beak if you can’t get there in person.

2 Shaukat, London ENGLAND

If you love a little Liberty London then you must visit Shaukat. They offer current and past season Liberty prints at a significant discount to the prices you’d pay in Liberty itself. It's not the prettiest store, but is certainly worth the trip.

3 Liberty of London, London ENGLAND

Of course, if you want to go straight to the source and soak up the beautiful historic atmosphere and surrounds, then a visit to the iconic Liberty of London is a must.

4 LE BHV, Paris Marais FRANCE

An amazing department store with an actual haberdashery department worth a sticky beak for well-priced French basics. This department store will not disappoint you! It has everything, plus the best reusable shopping bags you'll have ever come across, perfect to carry all your bits and pieces stylishly.

5 Modern Domestic, Portland USA

If you happen to be in Portland, Oregon and you like fabric and partial to quilting, then you must pop into Modern Domestic. It is a lovely fresh space with ever changing projects and displays.

Like to keep local?

6 Calico and Ivy Perth, WA AUSTRALIA

Anyone who loves a little Liberty-inspired fabric will be like a kid in a lolly shop here. If you are in the Mosman Park area it is well worth a look.

7 Material Obsession Drummoyne, NSW AUSTRALIA

A long standing Sydney institution that not only has a gorgeous array of fabrics, but also offers a lovely selection of classes with well known designers. Lisa Mattock has had a fantastic trip to France recently and a little squirrel told me a shopping tour is being planned for later in the year.
