How to get 80% off worm farms and compost bins

Save your money and the environment. - by Laura Barry
  • 05 Sep 2018

Compost Revolution is an online platforms and initiative started by civic-tech entrepreneur David Gravina and his team at Revolution Apps in 2012, in conjunction with eastern suburbs councils in Sydney, NSW. Compost Revolution now works with 31 councils across Australia and is now Australia’s largest community of composters and worm farmers, with more than 34,000 households joining the revolution to date. The initiative has diverted more than 7,400 tonnes of waste from landfill since its inception and avoided 12 million kilograms of CO2-equivalent greenhouse gas emissions.

The best thing about this initiative is that it enables Australian residents living within the participating council regions to buy worms farms, compost and bokashi bins at discounted prices, between 40 – 80 per cent of retail price. Better yet, if you live in an area where your council doesn’t participate in the Compost Revolution movement, the Compost Revolution website offers the same products at 40 per cent off the retail price to all Australian residents.

About half of what the average Australian household throws out is compostable organic material, so using home composting systems significantly reduces the amount of stuff we send to landfill.  It also reduces our impact on climate change because food waste releases harmful greenhouse gases as it breaks down in landfill. Cut your waste in half, dramatically reduce your carbon footprint and make your own soil and fertiliser just by composting at home.
