Paint manufacturers, Dulux and Taubmans recently unveiled their color trends for 2017. Whilst Taubmans chose to go with ‘Colour of the year’, Dulux revealed a collection of hues comprising of four themes: Sentinence, Chroma, Entwine and Construct.
Violet Verbena was revealed as Taubman’s ‘Colour of the year’ – playful, elegant and calming. With its unique greyed-off, moody purple, Violent Verbena cleverly adapts to its surrounding environment. When paired with dark neutrals, it unveils grey undertones, but when paired with whites, it reads as a purer purple. Take a look at these images for inspiration, starring Violent Verbena!
Dulux predict deeper blues and greens such as Dulux Deep Arctic to be the dominant colours in 2017. They also suggest a rise in the popularity of earthy greens such as Dulux Army Fatigues.
Sentinence – this palette promotes harmony through its subtle pastels and soft neutrals including new Dulux colours, Beige Mystery and Vintage Beige.
Chroma - With inspiration taken from the Memphis and Bauhaus movements, peach, melon, yellow and teal hues are combined with optical illusions, layered materials and reflections.
Entwine – This palette is a result of reds with a burnished edge, predicted to emerge as a trend next year. Influenced by the mix of tribal and South American themes, it features bold traditional colours such as red, burgundy, brown and orange - thrown together with the zest of bright yellow and blue.
Construct – this palette inspires pared back beauty with the inclusion of industrial influences and metallic accents using new Dulux Concrete Effect and Dulux Metallic Effect, as well as deep inky blues to add interest.
