When it comes to cleaning your microwave oven, there is a right way and a wrong way. The right way is all about cleaning smarter, not harder. It’s not the easiest appliance to clean, so this is where a little steam cleaning comes in.
It’s easy to do because you can just fill a bowl with water. You can even add a little bit of lemon or vinegar to it, if you want. Turn the microwave on high power for five minutes. This will put a lot of steam into the oven. When it has completed its cycle and you’ve take the bowl out (very carefully, with gloves) you’ll find it's a lot easier to wipe out the oven because everything has softened.
For a bit of microwave steam cleaning fun, take a look at Angry Mama. She’s a BPA-free, plastic figure you fill with tap water and vinegar, pop in the microwave and run at high power for 5 minutes.
Microwave your sponge
Stop wiping your benchtops in the kitchen with dirty dishcloths and sponges, because all you're doing is spreading the germs. What you need to do is make sure that you are using a clean dishcloth and sponge everyday. Put them in the microwave for at least 30 seconds, and that will disinfect them.
