According to an article published on The Conversation, “like humans, many animals tend to use one side of the body more than the other. This innate handedness (or footedness) is called behavioural or motor laterality.”
But which side does your cat or dog prefer?
For no reason other than sheer curiosity, there’s a simple test you can do with your cat or dog to find out.
To test your dog, fill a kong or other food-filling toy with treats and place it in front of them. Observe and see which paw your dog uses to get the food out.
Similarly, to see if your cat is left or right pawed, place some dried food inside a glass and see which paw they use to get it out.
