Online music data website Discogs has revealed that cassette tapes are now thr third fastest-growing format being sold on their website, and that people are now paying $500 or more to acquire particular music tapes.
Among the list of high-priced tapes sold for US$500 were The Offspring, 7 Songs; Coil, The Side Effects of Life; Barenaked Ladies, Buck Naked; Kylie Minogue; Metallica, Live Metal Up Your Ass.
The Guns N’ Roses Appetite For Destruction Locked N’ Loaded Edition: The Ultimate F’n Box sold for a whopping US$768 and Coldplay’s Ode To Deodorant tape sold for US$799.
However, the biggest surprise to take out the crown of most expensive collectors cassette tape is The Artist (Formerly Known As Prince) – The Versace Experience Prelude 2 Gold sold for a whopping US$4,117.
Might be time to go rifling through the garage to see if you can find those shoeboxes filled with tapes.
