Break all your bad habits just by wearing this bracelet

No more nail-biting. - by Laura Barry

Break all your bad habits just by wearing this bracelet

Everyone has bad habits they would like to break. Whether you bite your nails or can’t resist a 3pm sugar rush from the vending machine, this bracelet promises to help you break those bad habits.

Amazing has launched an interesting new product called ‘Pavlok’, a smart wearable that closely resembles a FitBit and shocks you whenever your bad habits strikes. So, whenever you reach into that chocolate drawer in your desk, or bite your nails, you’ll be jolted out of your bad decision by a small electric shock.

There’s also an accompanying app to go with the product that can be downloaded by friends and family who can then zap you from afar, should they see you indulging in your bad habits.

If you’re worried about the intensity of the shock, don’t be. The inventor of the product likens the shock from the bracelet to that of touching a doorknob after rubbing your feet on the carpet – like static electricity.

However, this product has met mixed reviews, and currently has a three-out-of-five star rating from more than 400 reviews on Amazon, where the product is sold exclusively.

The description on Amazon says:

“Pavlok helps break bad habits by associating the discomfort of the electric jolt with the bad habit that is being performed. The device may be activated manually by clicking the top of the module, or can be activated by an external sensor connected to the Pavlok application on a paired iPhone 4s or later (android coming soon). Examples of external sensors are gps, accelerometers, browser extensions, or custom-written software. When the sensor detects a bad habit it sends a signal to the app, which triggers the programmed function on the device (jolt, beep or vibration).”

Could this be the product we all need?
