The humble sausage roll is a food that many Australians grew up eating. Whether it was homemade by your mum or bought from the tuck shop, a sausage roll with a dollop of tomato sauce is as Australian as a meat pie at the footy.
But identifying the ‘best’ sausage roll in Australia is a divisive quest. Depending on who you ask, the ‘best’ sausage roll often depends on the flavour and texture preferences of the individual judging it. However, the Wotif Awards have managed to best the feat and uncovered the location of the best sausage roll in Australia.
According to thousands of votes, Bourke Street Bakery in New South Wales took out the top spot for Best Sausage Roll in Australia.
However, the votes revealed that not all Australians are partial to a gourmet roll. In fact, following Bourke Street Bakery in hot pursuit were the sausage rolls from ‘the servo’ in general, 7Eleven sausage rolls and BP Mudgee.
There you have it ladies and gentleman. If you want can’t make it into Bourke Street Bakery, it might be worth hitting up your local servo.
