Your favourite brunch food may be ruining your sleep
Our dear avocadoes are a staple at Sunday brunch, but science suggests that millennials most Instagrammable fruit may also be responsible for our bad night’s sleep.

If you have a habit of indulging in a cheeky avo on toast before bed, nutritionists are now saying we need to be re-thinking this snack stat, or suffer a restless night's sleep.

Avocados, along with other foods like eggplant, nuts and soy sauce, contain an amino acid called tyramine that causes stimulation in your brain.

Nutritionist Rob Hobson told The Express that, “This amino acid may inhibit sleep, as it causes the release of a hormone called norepinephrine that stimulates the brain.”

Obviously, the last thing you want to be doing before sleep is stimulating your brain, which means it's best to avoid foods that contain tyramine, which unfortunately includes our beloved avocado.

The good news is that avocados are still safe for brunch, we just can’t have too many of them or we’ll be at risk of a sleepless night.
