We all know the feeling. You've booked the tickets, packed the bags, boarded the flight and arrived in one piece at your ultimate holiday destination. Ready for nothing but cocktails, relaxation and stress-free good times you stand in the arrivals hall awaiting your luggage... But nothing ever arrives and your dreams are crushed.
Unfortunately for holiday makers (and airlines!) this scenario is all too common and can often be the straw that breaks the camel's back when you're travelling alone, but even more so when you're holidaying with a friend or significant other!
So, here's a handy tip to consider as you're packing your bags, before you even make your way to the airport.
Pop a fresh change of clothes in the check-in luggage of your travel buddy and do the same for them so that if one of you draws the short straw and finds yourself up the Amazon without a paddle, you'll at least be covered for the next 24 hours.
• a light shoe (canvas plimsole, for example)
• basic toiletires (toothbrush, mini toothpaste, floss and a travel deodourant and face wash)
• medication to keep you going for a day
It might be a bit to ask if your travel companion likes to pack an option of everything and the kitchen sink, but it will save you both if you're unlucky enough.
