6 apps that will help you be happy, mindful and present

Thanks to phones, tablets, laptops and smart watches we are now constantly connected to the world. But being constantly connected means that the lines between our work and personal life often blurs, and we find ourselves distracted by our digital devices when we should be present and in the moment with our friends or family.  

However, as luck would have it – there’s an app for that! If you want to be happier, be more mindful or even just be more present, then there’s an app that can help you get on your way.

1. Happify

Happify is an emotional wellbeing app that encourages participants into a more mindful emotional state by providing science-based activities and games to boost positive thinking.

2. Today

Today is an app that tracks your impact on the environment and encourages more positive environmental action. It will supply you with daily challenges to live more sustainably.

3. Headspace

Headspace is a neat little app for guided meditation. There are many different meditations to choose from, ranging from 3 minutes to 20, and each meditation will encourage you to reflect on a different ways of managing stress, anxiety, negative thoughts and over thinking.

4. Stop Breathe Think

Stop Breathe Think encourages you to take time out of your day to stop what you are doing, think about how you feel and find peace with breathing techniques. The app has short activities that will help you deal with thoughts and emotions.

5. Sleep Cycle

Getting a good sleep is of the utmost importance to your mental and physical health. Sleep Cycle is an intelligent app that tracks sleep patterns and wakes you during a light sleep cycle, which will make you feel more rested upon waking up.

6. Worrytime

Worrytime is an app founded by ReachOut, Australia’s leading mental health organisation for young people. The app prompts you to allocated a single portion of your day to log any niggling worries or concerns you may have in order to stop them spiralling out of control.
