A 100-year-old fruitcake has stood the test of time
Would you eat it?
Fruitcake can generally last for a long period of time but one fruitcake has surpassed common expectations.
The fruitcake, which was in found in Antarctica has remained fresh for over 100 years.
Researchers say it is still “almost edible".
Robert Falcon Scott, an explorer who settled on the icy continent in 1910 is believed to be the owner of the super-cake according to the National Geographic.
It was found in Antarctica’s oldest explorer hut located in Cape Adare, wrapped in its original paper and tin.
The chilly climate and original packaging are believed to be the reason why it has managed to last for so long!
