Your clothing is not the only thing that needs to change when temperatures rise, your makeup does too. So follow the guide below and look cool, calm and fresher for longer.

1. Less is more

Use an oil-free moisturiser to reduce shine. If you normally use a hydrating cream because your skin is dry apply a smaller amount to damp skin and spread it out.

2. Invest in a primer

Keep makeup in place for longer with a primer. Apply it after your moisturiser and before a tinted moisturiser. Let it settle in for a few minutes before the next step.

3. Keep it sheer

Enhance your complexion with a tinted moisturiser. Follow with concealer where you need it. Avoid luminous or hydrating foundations as they’ll increase the shine factor.

4. Be a bronzer

Brighten your eyes, teeth and skin with bronzing powder. Lightly blend it over the high points or where the sun hits your face – temples, cheekbones, nose and chin.

5. Skip glitter shadow

Avoid shimmery eye shadows, as you don’t need added shine. Go for lusher lashes by tracing eyeliner pencil along top lash lines then set with a dark eye shadow.

6. Frame your eyes

Improve the shape and colour of your brows with a brow powder. If this isn’t a regular makeup step make it one. It will instantly make you look fresher.

7. Cream the blush

Add a healthy a glow. Blend a cream blusher out over your cheeks. Don’t use powder blusher as it can look dull and flat. Keep it subtle and natural looking.

8. Powder down

Lock your makeup in place with powder. A little dusted over your T-zone - forehead, nose and chin is all you need. Too much powder will make your skin look dull.

9. Line and define

Define your lips with a lip pencil, using a shade that’s close to your lips. Draw a line along the outer edge then fill in with the pencil. Follow with a sheer lipstick or balm.
