Winter can be rough on you sometimes with all that nasty chill in the air, blustering winds and just general drab and dreariness around the place, can't it?
So, making the best of a bad situation and taking the opportunity to turn your place into a warm and cuddly winter grotto is high up there on the priority list. But, how do you do it? A lick of paint? Welcome-in some winter-resistant house plants? Buy a new coat? Well, all of these are good options, but it's more the little things that make a house a home and amping-up their wintry feel that will do the trick just as well.
1. Rug up
We're not talking in the 'get a nice jumper' kind of way, but start to think about throw rugs for the couch, the bed, the sofa and get throw-happy. You can get a lot of nice options from online stores like BHG Shop right here, or even pull-out your creativity and see what you can get crafty with, using this season's 'Boho Chic' or 'Neutral Mist' wool or acrylic knit kits!
2. Rug down
Don't leave your floor wanting more! In winter, tiles, floorboards, vinyl and polished concrete can be chilly on the toes, so a stylish rug is never a bad option. Shagpile is your best bet when it comes to keeping snuggly thanks to its piles of shaggy warmth that your feet get lost in, but if that's not ideal with pets and kids around, something a little more resilient with just as much cushiness might be perfect.
We've got the most fab edit of seasonal rugs over on BHG Shop for you to have a peek at. You never know what you might finds!
3. From the inside out
Is there anything more warming for the body and the soul than a nice cuppa tea? Probably not. It's loaded with benefits and there's nothing quite as cosy as hugging a mug of piping hot brew. That's why we brought together all the most fab tea-related finds out there in the one place on BHG Shop to warm the cockles and get this winter into gear. See them all here.
4. Home is where the hearth is
It's not often it gets cold enough to put flint to tinder and start up a fire in the middle of your home, but sometimes it's necessary, so investing in the right technology and additions to the home to do so is a must.
From fire pits, big and little to everything fire-friendly in-between what's on BHG Shop is an investment worth making... Or if being handy is more your flavour, you can always try this easy, do-it-at-home fire pit project we took on, right here.
1. Mood lighting makes it
A candle lit dinner is not only romantic if you're throwing one for you and a partner, but there's something so warming and wintry about a few glimmering tea lights, or a couple of proud, heightened candles on lavish candelabras in the centre of the table that scream cosiness! Try grabbing yourself a set and popping them in the middle of the table, or around the living room this winter and see how much of a difference it makes! Our favourites are right here on BHG Shop...
