Thanks to supermarkets putting limits on how many items of one product you can purchase in one transaction, sometimes one grocery shop isn’t enough for the week if you have a large family. Some people have even reported difficulties finding sufficient stock of basic pantry staples such as bread – and are now making it themselves.

American chef Brandon Johnson revealed a super quick and easy recipe for making your own flat bread at home on Facebook and the post has since gotten more thank 43,000 likes, 194,000 shares and 12,000 comments – it’s gone viral – and we can see why!

This recipe is quick and easy, takes just minutes to make and will taste delicious with a variety of condiments!

Ingredients

2 cups flour

1 – 1 and ¼ cup of lukewarm water

1 tsp kosher salt

1 table spoon oil/butter/shortening

Method

  1. Mix dry ingredients together and add most of the water, mix and add water until it has the consistency of tacky pizza dough. Knead for a few minutes. Let rest in greased bowl for 30- 60 minutes.

  2. Divide into 6 pieces and roll out on floured surface to thin Tortilla thickness.

  3. Heat griddle (Set your frying pan to high in Australia) and cook until golden brown spots appear then flip, cooking until done.

They can be made ahead and kept under a flour towel or frozen for later use.
